Ingredients are a touchy subject in today's world, and we at SILV fully stand behind minimal and safe sources for our homes and families. Our research has led us to just 5 simple ingredients for effectively cleaning laundry.
1. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate
Derived From Coconut While it's petroleum-derived counterpart has a bad rap, plant-derived SLS is biodegradable and does not accumulate in water or land. This ingredient can easily decompose in the natural environment into nontoxic components typically within 4 to 5 days. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is great as both a cleansing and foaming agent.
2. Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate
Derived From Coconut Usually found in bath, shower, and hair care products, Sodium C14-16 olefin sulfonate is great for removing dirt, oil, and grime. Microscopically, it is a mixture of long chain sulfonate salts.
Derived From Palm (RSPO Certified) Glycerin easily dissolves in water and has a sugary, sweet taste. Vegetable glycerin is a natural conditioner that helps keep skin soft. The ingredient can be found in all sorts of products ranging from soaps, candles, moisturizer, toothpaste, ink cartridges, insect repellent, makeup, dairy products, pasta, and more.
4. Sodium Citrate
Derived From Citrus Also called sour salt, sodium citrate is derived from fermenting citric acid. Normally used in food and beverage as a taste enhancer and antioxidant, it's what gives club soda its salty, sour flavor.
5. Polyvinyl Alcohol
Water Soluble & Biodegradable Polymer You can find uses for polyvinyl alcohol in various areas from medicine capsules to contact lenses and eye drops to photographic film. Polyvinyl alcohol is nontoxic and is sometimes confused for polyvinyl acetate or polyvinyl chloride.
