Handmade from used jute rice bags. These bags would normally go into a landfill in India compounding the problems of a high population and a weak infrastructure. Buying this bag helps preserve the earth's resources! Good karma. Good vibes.
WHAT YOU ARE GIVING
Your purchase of this bag provides 1 kilo (2.2 lbs) of rice to a family in need in India. Indians typically eat rice three meals per day. This will last the average family (of 4 people) almost 3 days. We give away 20 kilos of rice at a time. This typically gives families about a month of rice! Buying this bag feeds families!
SUPPORT FAIR TRADE
We love our employees! We treat them right. That is why we adhere to fair trade practices. We also train women to sew. Because of this there are slight differences in size and quality. Buying our bags provides jobs!
INTERNATIONAL DUTIES NOTICE
All orders are shipped from the USA. The cost of import fees and/or duties are NOT included in the cost of shipping. If you live outside the USA, you may be required to pay a duty before you can pick up your package. It is important to know your countries rates for duties as you will be responsible for this added cost. If you do not pay the duty, the package will be returned to us. In this case, we will contact you to ask if you would like to pay to have the package re-shipped to you or if you would like a refund on the cost of the product (excluding shipping). Most European countries have import fees, however, they are generally less than the cost of the product(s), and the fees are not charged consistently on every package. Customers have not reported any duties for Canada, Australia, or New Zealand.
About The Partner & Their Impact:
Our Impact Partner, Rice Love's mission is to help end global hunger. They make backpacks and other wearables that are handmade in India using recycled, eco-friendly, cruelty-free materials. Every bag produced donates one kilo of rice to families in India, and each bag comes with a unique number that allows you to look up the family’s photo and story that that bag is connected to. They’ve donated over 900,000 meals of rice, and counting!
